Powder coatings are dry formulations consisting primarily of four key components: resins & hardeners, additives, pigments, and fillers. Common varieties include epoxy powder coatings, polyester powder coatings, epoxy polyester powder coatings, polyurethane powder coatings, super weather-resistant fluorocarbon powder coatings and Acrylic Powder Coatings.
Polyester powder coatings are a range of polyester-based coatings that use either TGIC (Triglycidyl Isocyanurate) or TGIC-free formulations. This product series is designed for both outdoor and indoor use, providing excellent light fastness and weather resistance with a single coat on various substrates. They are particularly suitable for applications not expected to be exposed to long-term UV radiation or external weathering. Whether in construction, household appliances, automobiles, furniture, or outdoor facilities and metal structures, polyester powder coatings provide durable and aesthetically pleasing coating solutions.
The powder coating application process consists of three essential stages: pre-treatment, application, and curing. In the pre-treatment phase, the substrate is cleaned by chemical or mechanical means to eliminate contaminants such as dust, rust, grease, and oxide layers—commonly present on aluminum. A conversion coating is then applied to enhance corrosion resistance and improve coating adhesion, after which the workpiece is thoroughly dried. During the application stage, a powder spray gun is used to electrostatically deposit the powder onto the grounded surface. The gun generates a charged cloud of powder particles, ensuring uniform adhesion and the formation of a consistent layer, while preventing contamination from dust or other impurities. In the final curing stage, the coated part is heated in an oven at temperatures typically between 110°C and 250°C. Curing time depends on factors such as heating duration and substrate thickness. Under these elevated temperatures, the resin molecules undergo cross-linking reactions, forming a tough, insoluble, and non-melting film with a three-dimensional network structure. This yields a surface characterized by excellent hardness, strong adhesion, and outstanding resistance to chemicals, abrasion, and heat.
Polyester powder coatings are available in a wide range of colors, with different gloss levels and textures, and can be customized to meet your specific requirements.
